This policy explains what personal information Genecogni LLC ("we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It covers this website (genecogni.com), our games site, our newsletter, and our business phone number.

The short version

We collect as little as we can. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with third parties for their marketing, and we do not run advertising on our sites. If you give us your email address or phone number, we use it to talk to you and nothing else.

What we collect

We collect information in four situations, and only these:

When you email us. We receive your email address and whatever you put in the message.
When you subscribe to our newsletter. We collect your email address so we can tell you when we release a game.
When you contact our business phone number. We receive your phone number and the contents of your call or message.
When you visit our websites. We collect anonymous, aggregate page view statistics. See "Analytics" below.

We do not ask for, and have no use for, your date of birth, your location, your payment details, or any government identifier. Our games are free and do not require an account.

Text messages (SMS)

We use a business phone number that can send and receive text messages. This section describes how that works.

How we get your consent. We only text people who text us first. When you send a message to our business number, you are asking us to reply by text, and we reply to that conversation and nothing else. We do not collect phone numbers through forms on our website, we do not buy phone number lists, and we never text people who have not messaged us first.
What we send. Replies to the conversation you started, and information you have specifically asked us for. We do not send marketing blasts, promotional campaigns, or bulk messages of any kind.
How to stop. Reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting you. Reply HELP for help, or email us at hello@genecogni.com.
Rates and frequency. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies and depends on your conversation with us.
Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share your phone number, or your consent to be texted, with anyone for their own marketing or lead-generation purposes — ever, and under no circumstances. Your number is used by us, to talk to you, and is passed only to the telecommunications provider that carries the message.

We do not sell or share your information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their marketing, advertising, or lead-generation purposes. We do not share it with affiliates for those purposes either.

The only parties who ever touch your information are the service providers we use to actually run the business, and they may only use it to provide their service to us:

Our email and phone provider, to deliver messages you send us and the replies we send back.
Our newsletter provider (Buttondown), to store your subscription and deliver the emails you asked for.
Our hosting and analytics provider (Cloudflare), to serve the website and count page views.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to — for example, in response to a valid legal process.

Our newsletter is run by Buttondown. We ask for your email address and nothing else. We use it for one thing: telling you when a new game is out. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address from the list.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages people visit. It is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites. We see aggregate numbers — how many people viewed a page, roughly where in the world they were — not who you are.

Cookies

Our websites do not set advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use cookie-based profiling and there is nothing to consent to.

Other sites and platforms

Our games are hosted on third-party platforms such as CrazyGames, and we link out to services like Discord and YouTube. Once you follow a link and leave our sites, that platform's own privacy policy applies to what you do there. We have no control over and take no responsibility for their practices.

How long we keep things

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails and text conversations are kept as long as we need them to help you and to keep ordinary business records. Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied to you.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@genecogni.com and we will do it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we will honour those requests regardless of where you are.

Children

Our games are suitable for a general audience, but our sites are not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Our sites are served over HTTPS. We keep the amount of personal data we hold small on purpose, because the safest data is the data you never collected. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
